October 8th, 2026

World Sight Day is observed on the second Thursday of October to focus global attention on blindness and vision impairment. Coordinated by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness with the support of the World Health Organization, it encourages people to get regular eye exams and urges governments and organizations to expand access to eye care. A large share of vision loss around the world could be prevented or treated, so the day is used to promote screening, education, and fundraising. It is a good moment to schedule an eye check-up and to support the people and programs working to protect sight.
