Day Events
International Day for the Prevention of and Fight against All Forms of Transnational Organized Crime
The International Day for the Prevention of and Fight against All Forms of Transnational Organized Crime is observed every year on November 15. The date marks the anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime, also known as the Palermo Convention, on November 15, 2000, and the UN General Assembly established the day in March 2024. Criminal networks operate across borders, trafficking drugs, people, firearms, and wildlife, smuggling migrants, laundering money, and increasingly turning to cybercrime. Their activities fuel violence and corruption, undermine the rule of law, and drain billions of dollars from legitimate economies. Supported by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, the day encourages governments, law enforcement, civil society, and the private sector to share information, strengthen international cooperation, and stand with the victims of organized crime.
