June 14th, 2027

Flag Day, observed on June 14, marks the day in 1777 when the Second Continental Congress adopted the first official flag of the United States, with thirteen stripes and thirteen stars. President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed the first national Flag Day in 1916, and Congress made it permanent in 1949. The week that includes June 14 is National Flag Week, when Americans are asked to fly the flag at their homes and businesses. June 14 is also the birthday of the U.S. Army. Flag Day is a national observance rather than a federal holiday, and only Pennsylvania observes it as a state holiday.

World Blood Donor Day is celebrated to thank voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood and to raise awareness of the need for regular blood donations. This observance is crucial to ensure the availability of safe blood for patients requiring transfusions and for emergencies. The day is marked by global campaigns and local events, including blood donation drives, educational workshops, and ceremonies honoring regular donors. It emphasizes the role of blood donation as a critical aspect of healthcare systems and the importance of regular donations to maintain sufficient supplies. World Blood Donor Day also serves as a call to action to governments and health authorities to provide adequate resources and put in place systems and infrastructures to increase the collection of blood from voluntary, non-remunerated blood donors. It's a celebration of the selfless individuals who donate their blood to help save lives and a reminder of the importance of continuous donation to support those in need.
